Natural Science
Natural science is a branch of science concerned with the description, prediction, and understanding of natural phenomena, based on observational and empirical evidence. Mechanisms such as peer review and repeatability of findings are used to try to ensure the validity of scientific advances.
Humanistic Science
Humanistic studies is a multidisciplinary human science for which humanist values are a source of inspiration. It combines insights gained from philosophy, psychology, sociology, religious and cultural sciences, theory of science and methodology.
Social Sciences
Social science is a major category of academic disciplines, concerned with society and the relationships among individuals within a society. It in turn has many branches, each of which is considered a "social science". The main social sciences include economics, political science, human geography etc.
Field of Art
The arts represent an outlet of expression, that is usually influenced by culture and which in turn helps to change culture. As such, the arts are a physical manifestation of the internal creative impulse. Major constituents of the arts include literature – including poetry, novels and short stories, and epics etc.
Technical Service
Technical Services are the behind-the-scenes activities that a library undertakes to process library materials loaned for the public. These activities include ordering, classifying and cataloging, preparing materials for the library shelves, inventory, and weeding.
Interdiciplinary
Interdisciplinarity involves the combining of two or more academic disciplines into one activity. It is about creating something new by crossing boundaries, and thinking across them. It is related to an interdiscipline or an interdisciplinary field.
Bio-technical Science
Biotechnology is the use of living systems and organisms to develop or make products, or "any technological application that uses biological systems, living organisms or derivatives thereof, to make or modify products or processes for specific use" (UN Convention on Biological Diversity, Art. 2). Depending on the tools and applications, it often overlaps with the (related) fields of bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biomanufacturing, molecular engineering, etc.
Bio-medicine and Healthcare
Biomedicine is a branch of medical science that applies biological and other natural-science principles to clinical practice. The branch especially applies to biology and physiology. Biomedicine also can relate to many other categories in health and biological related fields. It has been the dominant health system for more than a century.
Health care or healthcare is the maintenance or improvement of health via the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, illness, injury, and other physical and mental impairments in human beings.
